About SOMAPP Foundation

We are a philanthropic foundation using technology, training, and community-led models to break the barriers that hold back women, youth, and rural families.

Our Mission

To expand digital access, skills, and economic opportunities for African women, youth, and rural communities by delivering affordable technology, AI-powered tools, and community-driven education programs.

Our Vision

A continent where every person — regardless of gender, income, or location — can learn, earn, and thrive in the digital economy.

The community field engagement

Our Purposes

SOMAPP Foundation carries out four core purposes that anchor everything we do

Educational Initiatives

Developing and supporting community workshops, digital-skills bootcamps, scholarships, and youth learning programs delivered through GOODSAM devices.

Economic Empowerment

Promoting entrepreneurship training, financial literacy, micro-enterprise development, and workforce readiness programs — especially for women and youth.

Strategic Partnerships

Partnering with schools, community organizations, businesses, and government institutions to expand access to digital tools and opportunities.

Removing Barriers

Engaging in charitable activities that address barriers to education and economic independence, including access to devices, connectivity, and AI-powered tools.

Our Approach

We combine three key elements to create sustainable impact

Technology + AI Tools

GOODSAM smartphones, AgriScan AI, Kaya AI, and localized tools designed for African communities.

Women-Led Distribution

Shangazi Agents — empowering women as community leaders and technology distributors.

Community Partnerships

Collaborating with schools, NGOs, businesses, and grassroots organizations across Africa.

Leadership & Team

SOMAPP is powered by a small, mission-driven team committed to opening doors for Africa’s next generation of learners, creators, and entrepreneurs. We work across communities, classrooms, and continents — always guided by empathy, integrity, and a deep belief that opportunity should belong to everyone. Behind every workshop, scholarship, and partnership is a team that shows up with heart.

Grace Mbugua

Executive Director

Grace leads the Foundation with a clear mission: break the barriers that limit young Africans from accessing education, skills, and economic independence. With a background in community development and youth empowerment, she oversees strategy, partnerships, and the impact that fuels our work. She serves as SOMAPP’s voice to donors, government partners, community trust architects, and the global development community.

Irene Mwende

Director of Programs & Impact

The architect behind our programs. Irene designs and oversees every initiative — from scholarships and educational workshops to entrepreneurship and workforce development. They ensure our work reaches the communities that need it most and delivers measurable, lasting change.

Florence Mugo

Finance & Compliance Manager

Transparency and accountability sit at the center of our mission. Florence Mugo ensures that every grant, donation, and program dollar is managed with care. She oversees financial reporting, compliance, and annual audits to maintain trust with all stakeholders.

Fred Ndavi

Director of Fundraising & Donor Relations

The link between our mission and the people who believe in it. Fred Ndavi works closely with donors, grantmakers, and corporate partners to expand the resources that power SOMAPP programs. They make sure every supporter sees the impact of their generosity.

Dotto Bottea

Partnerships & Community Engagement Manager

Dotto Bottea builds bridges — between SOMAPP and the schools, youth groups, women-led organizations, faith communities, and local leaders who bring our mission to life. She helps transform partnerships into real opportunities for learners, creators, farmers and families on the ground.

Field Officers / Community Mobilizers

The People First Team

The People First Team. Our field team is the heartbeat of SOMAPP. They work directly in schools, youth centers, and rural communities — delivering workshops, supporting students, collecting insights, and ensuring our programs meet local needs. They bring compassion, cultural understanding, and dedication to every village, classroom, and training session.

AI Program Assistant

Intelligent Assistant

AI Program Assistant Automates curriculum updates, tracks program submissions, schedules workshops, and manages communication flows. AI Donor Assistant Builds grant drafts, donor reports, proposal templates, and financial projections. AI Impact Analyst Runs M&E analysis, generates dashboards, and automates impact reporting. These roles allow SOMAPP to operate with ≤5 human staff but execute like a 30-person NGO.
